The Fontanelle Cemetery is an ex-ossuary that grows over 3000 square meters. It was created in 1600, when Naples was decimated by famines, epidemics. The cemetery is known, because a rite was called “anime pezzentelle” (poor souls). One could adopt a skull in exchange for grace. There are many legends, such as Donna Concetta’s story; her skull is a talisman representing fertility.
