1868, Thessaly. Thanasis Vardas stalked by a Turkish-Albanian gang and forced to leave the 5 year old son Giorgis in a monastery in Meteora. Fifteen years later, when Thessaly was liberated and incorporated into the Greek state, Giorgis, big anymore, leaving the monastery.
